Knowledge Compilation on Marine Area Use in the Seafood Industry

Marine Management

On behalf of the Norwegian Seafood Research Fund (FHF), SALT is preparing a knowledge synthesis on the use of marine areas by the entire seafood industry. There is strong interest in utilizing Norwegian marine areas for new economic activities. FHF therefore seeks to increase knowledge about the spatial needs of industries that are already established.

By documenting both current and future area requirements, the fisheries and aquaculture industries will gain an essential knowledge base to support their claims for marine space going forward. This knowledge will also be highly valuable for management authorities in planning new offshore activities, both in the short and the long term.
