How to take climate into account in marine spatial management

Marine Management

On behalf of the Norwegian Environment Agency, SALT is conducting a literature study to present existing knowledge about the significance of climate change for area-based management in marine areas. The study will collect information about what climate change means for the geographical shift of environmental values and the related management implications. It will be specially relevant to look at how particularly valuable and vulnerable areas are affected. It will also look into which observation and modelling tools are usually used for evaluating climate effects, and the availability of such tools for evaluating the effects of climate change in Norwegian marine areas.

The study will result in recommendations on how spatial considerations can be included in the management plans context and will be completed in December 2025.
