Marine Management
The waters off Lofoten are among Norway’s most valuable and productive coastal and marine areas, while at the same time facing increasing pressure from competing demands for space. An up-to-date and coordinated knowledge base is essential for sustainable spatial management and sound decision-making in the coastal zone.
Commissioned by the Lofoten Council, SALT is developing a scientifically grounded framework for prioritisation and a project plan for further mapping of marine biodiversity in Lofoten, in accordance with the Norwegian Environment Agency’s 2026 mapping guidelines.
