SAMSKAG II

Marine Management

SALT is a partner in the Nordic research project SAMSKAG II – Together for the Skagerrak – led by DTU Aqua and carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Research, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and the University of Gothenburg (GU). The project is funded by the Nordic Marine Programme.

SAMSKAG II builds on an established Nordic collaboration and aims to strengthen the knowledge base for a more holistic and sustainable management of the Skagerrak. By combining ecological data, an understanding of biological relationships, and management perspectives across national borders, the project will contribute to improved protection and management of marine ecosystems.

SALT leads the work on developing biodiversity indicators for fish and shellfish and also contributes to compiling and analyzing historical fisheries data. This provides both a clearer picture of how the ecosystem has developed over time and concrete, measurable tools for monitoring its current state — forming a basis for more knowledge-based decision-making in nature and fisheries management.
