World Clean-Up Day 2024

Marine Litter

The world’s first World Cleanup Day took place on September 20 in Tromsø, along with many other locations around the globe. This international awareness day was initiated by the United Nations as an annual event to highlight the important fight against litter and to encourage global voluntary clean-up efforts.

The theme of this year’s event at the Fram Centre was Arctic cities and marine litter. Among the initiatives presented was Rydd i tide, which is administered by SALT on behalf of the Norwegian Retailers’ Environmental Fund.

SALT also showcased an interactive exhibition on marine litter, designed to raise awareness among visitors and demonstrate how clean-up and monitoring efforts can contribute to solving the problem.
