On Wild Paths

Marine Management

Through the project "On Wild Paths", our aim is to inspire and educate first-year students in the Restaurant and Food Processing program (VG1) across the counties of Finnmark, Troms, and Nordland. We focus on promoting sustainable use of aquatic resources, especially species that may negatively impact ecosystems but also have the potential to be valuable food sources.

By working closely with the students, we will explore how harvesting and utilizing species that cause ecological challenges—such as pink salmon—can contribute to better environmental management. The project will also introduce elements of entrepreneurship, encouraging students to think creatively and practically about how these issues can be turned into opportunities.

Ultimately, we want to motivate young people to pursue meaningful solutions that benefit their local communities throughout their professional lives. The first phase of the project will be carried out in Finnmark.
