Mapping the Status of Marine Spatial Plans

Marine Management

SALT has been commissioned by the Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (KDD) to map plans for marine areas in Norway developed under the Planning and Building Act. As part of the project, SALT will establish a nationwide overview of marine spatial plans developed pursuant to the Act.
The project involves collecting, systematising and presenting available planning data. SALT will compile an overview and produce a simple map of municipal plans for marine areas, showing which municipalities have such plans, the status of these plans, and intermunicipal planning collaborations and the municipalities involved.
The aim of the project is to provide a knowledge base for further work on national planning guidelines for integrated planning in coastal marine areas.
