Gap Analysis of FAO’s Guidelines on the Marking of Fishing Gear

Marine Litter

On behalf of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, SALT will carry out a gap analysis of the implementation of FAO’s voluntary guidelines on the marking of fishing gear in the OSPAR area. The assignment includes literature reviews and interviews with key stakeholders in the various OSPAR member states.

The commission from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management is part of the follow-up to the OSPAR region’s Regional Action Plan on Marine Litter. SALT will deliver a report that will, among other things, provide recommendations to OSPAR on how identified weaknesses in the implementation of the guidelines can be addressed through intergovernmental cooperation.
